Telework InfographicA ConnectSolutions Remote Worker Study has found that employees who telework are happier, take better care of their bodies, and save money.  The real overarching statistic is that 63% of respondents say they have a more positive attitude, when working remotely.

One reason remote workers have a more positive attitude, might be that 39% admit to working in pajamas, and 18% admit to talking to clients/colleagues while not wearing pants.  Though we did not specifically pull stats, we expect that 100% of the people who work from bed and/or without pants have a more positive attitude about work.

On the health front, 45% of respondents say they eat healthier when they work from home, 40% say they sleep more, and 33% say that they exercise more.

In addition to health and happiness, remote workers are also saving money.  The study showed that remote workers saved an average of over $4,500 per year. Savings primarily come from the cost of commuting, which would include gas, bridge/highway tolls, mass transit pass charges (bus, rail) and car insurance premiums.  “In addition, workers save money by reducing dry cleaning, clothing expenses (even if they don’t work in their pajamas), and the number of meals eaten at restaurants.

This is not all, our study also showed that remote workers are not just happier, they also work longer hours when they telework.  Read our previous blog post here.

Our survey was conducted in the United States, surveying people in the private sector as well as the government.  To read the full study of Remote Workers, please click here.
